Our maintenance budgeting process was disparate, unstandardised and trapped in a cycle of "data wrestling,". We faced constant variance disputes and spent a significant amount of our time on manual administration rather than analysis. This session explores BHP’s journey to implement a standardised budgeting solution, treat Master Data as the "Rosetta Stone," and build "Commercial Fluency" within engineering teams. We moved from chaos to clarity, redefining "good" from simple accuracy to strategic defensibility, ultimately flipping our effort ratio to focus on high-value optimization and risk management.
