What Are We Actually Transforming

Perspective
Education Pavilion
Day 01

Transformation is all the rage these days, and bestowing that word in someone’s job title has become something of a corporate badge of honour - but rarely do organisations take the time to unpack the ecosystem they are actually trying to change.

Asset Management is not a function or system - it is a complex ecosystem primarily made up of Asset Information, Engineering, Reliability, Work Management and Operations, all interdependent and shaping performance as a whole.

Most transformation efforts fail not through intent, but through ignoring this system; and critically, disregarding the human experience within it.

This session unpacks the ecosystem, showing how people, processes, systems and data interact in day-to-day work and why “human centred” design is essential to achieving real, sustained change. At a minimum, attendees will walk away with three things they will no longer ignore:

  • Understanding what you are actually transforming
  • Identify where transformation efforts break down
  • Design transformation around people, not just systems
